Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)
Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is part of our blood that is rich in fibrin and stem cells. When there is an injury on any part of our body, the fibrin is formed to assist wound healing process. Stem cells are responsible with growth factors and collagen formation. Because of these benefits, PRF is now used in facial rejuvenation. PRF is harvested from our own blood. The blood is drawn (usually from the crevice of the elbow) then straight away put inside a specialised centrifuge to separate PRF from other blood components. PRF is then applied to the skin by itself, with needling device or following a fractional radio frequency treatment. It can also be injected directly into the problematic areas, just like natural dermal fillers. The injected PRF gives additional volume to the skin for a couple of weeks then continues to rejuvenate the skin after it subsides.
What is the difference between PRP and PRF?
PRP (platelet rich plasma) contains white blood cells, platelets and fibrin which help in wound healing and collagen formation processes. PRF is the next generation of PRP which has high concentration of white blood cells, fibrin and stem cells. PRF is used to treat the same concerns as PRP, however it releases growth factor over time so it gives longer lasting benefits. PRF also stimulates faster healing than PRP.
Many clinics offers PRP treatments nowadays, but only a few offer PRF. ADDC Total Cosmetic Care is the pioneer of PRF use for facial rejuvenation in Perth. Our professional team have extensive knowledge and experience in PRF. We have combined PRF and a range of treatments and seen great results.
As PRF contains growth factor, therefore it helps to treat hair fall issues and stimulate hair growth. With the concentrated blood plasma which contains approximately five times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood. The higher levels of platelets allow more naturally occurring growth factors to circulate through the balding area.
The high concentration of the blood platelets stimulates stem cells, increases the production of collagen, nutrients and antioxidants. By activating follicular progenitor cells (adult stem cells) the application of PRF causes weak hair follicles to become healthier and larger, therefore, gaining thicker hair growth.
